Letter: Constituents wishes versus personal faith

RE: “Hard to keep the Faith” (Sunraysia Daily, August 25).

Some of us recall Member for Mallee Andrew Broad in his office proclaiming how loyal was his faith in traditional marriage.

We recall also how a few weeks later, when it came to the crunch, Mr Broad himself voted in parliament for same-sex marriage.

Seems it’s not just hard for some politicians to keep the faith – it’s impossible.

This is not an unwarranted gratuitous personal attack on Mr Broad.

As an MP, his job is to enunciate principles, to live by them and to welcome reminders from his constituents when he fails to do so.
