TOBY Quirk-Meeks says the time was right for him to step down as Meringur’s coach.

The 29-year-old resigned as coach of the Millewa Football League club days after the Roos’ disappointing 78-point semi-final loss to Bambill.

“We obviously had a really good run going in, we beat first and second and thought we were coming in pretty good ... we just had a dog day, and I’ll be honest, the three or four days (after) have been really dark days for me,” he said.
