PREMIER Daniel Andrews’ intention to make “the biggest transport building program in Australia’s history” a central part of his campaign for re-election has prompted calls for the government to return passenger trains to Mildura.
Mr Andrews outlined his election pitch in a speech yesterday, arguing governments should “have the guts to make big, bold decisions” when it comes to developing major projects.
“That’s why a re-elected Labor government will undertake an investment in road and rail the likes of which our nation has never seen,” Mr Andrews said in an address to the Committee for Economic Development of Australia.
