MILDURA mum Emma Walmsley has declared war on cigarette butts, a litter she regularly encounters on playgrounds and parks around Mildura.

Ms Walmsley, a member of the Mildura War on Waste group, last week launched a petition proposing that Mildura Council install recycling boxes for difficult items that are not accepted at Mildura Landfill.

“I think it’s a really big problem in Mildura – we go to the children’s playgrounds a lot and I have personally encountered (cigarette butts) each time I visit a children’s playground in Mildura,” she said.
