A COMPANY contracted to recycle concrete left over from the removal of Sunraysia’s decommissioned irrigation channels has taken their fight to operate on the Cowra Avenue Extension site to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
Waters Excavations was contracted to recycle the concrete, but its permit to operate on the land was scrapped in March after VCAT found Mildura Council failed to tell neighbours about its intention to ratify the company’s expiring temporary permit.
In April, councillors then refused to grant the company a new permit after several nearby residents flagged potential health risks from dust emanating from the site, which is near homes and 2km from the Koorlong township.
