THE legend of a local folk icon will be immortalised for decades to come, with a new statue to be erected in his honour in Wentworth.

Late last week, the Rotary Club of Wentworth was delivered a $18,000 wood carved statue of David James Jones, known as “Possum”.

Paid for by the club, the statue will be erected in Wentworth’s Fotherby Park in the coming weeks to replace the current deteriorated Possum statue, which will move to the Pioneer Museum.
