Push for shared footpaths

SUPPORT community safety councillor Glenn Milne has backed bike campaigners’ renewed push for laws allowing cyclists of all ages to ride on Victorian footpaths.

The calls are at odds with new research which found cyclists and pedestrians are at greater risk of injury with more footpath cycling.

NSW recently lifted the age limit of riders legally allowed to use footpaths from 12 to 16, prompting the Bicycle Network to call for NSW and Victoria to follow suit with other Australian states by opening it up to all ages.
