WIND gusts of almost 100km/h buffeted the Mallee yesterday afternoon bringing a cloud of dust across the region.
While Mildura was hit with wind gusts of about 75km/h about 3pm, Hopetoun had wind gusts of 98km/h 30 minutes earlier.
A Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster said the dust storm in the region reduced visibility to 100m and the strong gusts made driving potentially hazardous.
