MILDURA restaurateur and winemaker Stefano de Pieri has taken home a gold medal at the Royal Queensland Wine Show, scoring 95 for his Fleurieu Vermentinto.
Made with grapes sourced from the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, the white wine had previously won a trophy at the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show in 2017 and was awarded a bronze at the Melbourne International Wine Show earlier this week.
Mr de Pieri, who has studied wine in Italy and has a range of Italian-style wines, said he was excited to see more Australians were falling in love with the variety.
