THE journey from the Democratic Republic of Congo to the soccer pitches at Mildura’s Old Aerodrome Ovals is a long, and not exactly straightforward, one.

It took Ronald Mukunzi and Leo Kisombola from villages in their birth country to a Ugandan refugee camp, then eventually on a plane across the Indian Ocean to Australia.

Leo, 15, has been in Mildura 3½ months, while 18-year-old Ronald arrived about two months ago.
