AFTER its 101 years in operation, Ken Wakefield will hand over the reins of the family business Wakefield Transport and Iron Horse Intermodal to the Seaway Group.

The Mr Wakefield said on Friday the decision was bittersweet, but the timing was right with Seaway’s knowledge of the company and youthful team, providing a very positive outlook for the future.

“My father is 81 and I’m nearly 60, whereas the guys at Seaway are all under 50,” Mr Wakefield said.
