A SUNRAYSIA irrigator says the Murray-Darling Basin Plan was “purely political” and questioning the science on which it was based risked “blowing up the plan altogether”.
Red Cliffs dried fruit grower Bill McClumpha said the South Australian Royal Commission into the Murray-Darling Basin could not afford to ignore the politics of water recovery when it considered the construction of the historic basin plan.
The inquiry has heard from several experts, including retired public servants involved in the process that determined how much water was needed to restore the river system to health.
