Farming: Getting more grain

EXTRACTING improved profitability out of Mallee farming systems will be the impetus of a grains research forum at Walpeup this month.

The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) is hosting the Walpeup Grains Research Update on July 17 when topics such as insect management, sandy soil productivity, the effect of stubble on available nitrogen, long fallows and pulse inoculation will be dissected and discussed.

GRDC grower relations manager Darren Arney said the forum will be of great value to growers in the region who are looking to generate increased returns from their grain-growing enterprises.
