Live sheep exports will be on the agenda at a public meeting on Thursday.

A WENTWORTH Shire councillor has labelled a heatwave that killed more than 1300 Australian sheep being exported to Middle East this year as an “act of God”.

The future of live sheep exports to the Middle East will be discussed during a public meeting organised by councillor Bill Wheeldon Thursday night at Wentworth’s Crown Hotel.

Cr Wheeldon has slammed Member for Farrer Sussan Ley’s response to the sheep saga, where she called for the exports to end after shocking footage emerged of hundreds of sheep dying aboard a squalid live export ship.
