RICK Kelly showed good qualifying speed but couldn’t convert it into a podium at the weekend’s Townsville 400.
The Mildura driver started Saturday’s race in 10th and had looked a good chance to secure a top-10 finish during the race, however his Nissan struggled with tyre life as the 200km race progressed.
He worked his way up to seventh before eventually crossing the line 16th.
Before yesterday’s race, Kelly ended qualifying in fourth and moved up to third in the top-10 shootout.
