A MINI census will be carried out in Robinvale to determine how many people call the town home as part of a $65,000 housing strategy to address a long-term population crisis.
According to the 2016 Census, Robinvale had a resident population of 3531 people, but it’s widely believed contract harvest work brings about 3000 extra people to the region in peak times.
Swan Hill Rural City Council’s chief executive officer John McLinden said it was clear the method used to gather information in the national Census was not working in Robinvale and a different approach was required.
