IN a tight finals race, any slip is costly.

The Mildura Heat men looked to have stumbled on Saturday night but in a game they could not afford to lose, they dug deep and willed themselves across the line for a crucial victory against Pakenham Warriors.

Ever-reliable duo Calvin Henry and Dallas Brown were influential in a thrilling final quarter comeback in which the Heat scored 32 points to clinch victory 83-75.
