Mildura crime stats down, but still No.5 in Victoria

MILDURA has recorded a 7.9 per cent drop in overall crime incidents across the past 12 months, according to Crime Statistics Agency figures released yesterday.

However the Mildura’s local government area still came in as having the fifth-highest crime rate in Victoria, with 8723 incidents per 100,000 people ­reported to police for the year ending March 31.

In Mildura theft offences recorded the biggest decline of 23 per cent (2363 incidents from 3074), property and deception offences recorded a drop of 15.9 per cent, while burglary or break and enter offences declined 14.7 per cent on last year.
