Mobility scooter riders will be able to travel at their own pace in Mildura despite a Brisbane City Council call for a reduced speed limit on “hoons”.

MILDURA Council will not put the brakes on mobility scooter riders after Brisbane City Council called for the speed limit of motorised mobility devices to be reduced from 10km/h to 6km/h. 

The Courier-Mail reported the council has also demanded the Queensland Government introduce “basic licences” to ensure the physical and mental fitness of riders.

Brisbane City Council is also considering a plan to widen footpaths to protect pedestrians.
