On Sunday, a group travelled to Mildura to attend the presentation at the Psyche Bend steam water pumping station and to acknowledge all volunteers who have worked countless hours on the restoration.
The access road to the site is unmade and the gravel top of dubious quality. Part-way along the access road it became so bad, due to the rain on the Friday, we contemplated turning around and going back.
The problem was that there was a long queue of cars behind preventing this and we had to proceed. Completion of the journey was tenuous at best but we luckily got through and enjoyed this wonderful event.
The State Government needs to stump up and fund the sealing of this road to make it accessible for everyone who uses it to attend the pump site and adjacent park reserve. Come on, Victorian Government – instead of lavish kitchens in public service offices, get the roads fixed.
