THE significant engineering importance of Psyche Bend Pumps was recognised at a ceremony yesterday.

The English Society Victoria chapter awarded the IMechE Heritage Award to the pumping system, making it one of only 119 throughout the world to receive the accolade.

Psyche Bend Historical Reserve Committee chairman Cr Mark Eckel, took the opportunity to request State Government to commit funding for the construction of Pumps Road to become an all-weather road from Cureton Avenue to Psyche Bend.
