CROWDS estimated “in the hundreds” were turned away from a planned Sunraysia Sports Aircraft annual fly-in day at Wentworth Airport at the weekend after the decision was made by Wentworth Shire to close the aerodrome.

The event was scheduled to run on Saturday with a range of planes due to fly over and circle the skies of Wentworth.

However, the aerodrome was closed due to wet runways – a move Sunraysia Sports Aircraft president Karen Luckraft deemed “overcautious”.
