LETTER: Religions should not be ignored in schools

SENATOR Sarah Hanson-Young complained in the Senate the other day about a school chaplain suggesting to a student with an eating disorder that her problem may be that she is “hungering for God”.

Senator Hanson-Young seems to want chaplains banned.

If so, this girl would presumably have had access only to counselling that ignored God completely.

Being reassured that there is a God who loves her unconditionally, for herself – regardless of issues of body-image et cetera – that is surely a key part of what she needs to hear.
