A FEW teams pulling out of the Victorian Baseball State Championships in Geelong this weekend could prove handy for Sunraysia’s representative side.

As a result of fewer teams nominating, coach Luke Gathercole’s Sunraysia side will have one pool game today, two tomorrow and two Monday before the finals, which means a lesser workload for players than previous years, when the team would play up to eight pool games.

“We’ve only got one game (today) – we normally play about eight games but we’ve only got five this year,” Gathercole said.
