MATT Kelly says his own achievement of 300 Millewa Football League games is paled by what it means for his family’s legacy at the Werrimull Football Club.

Kelly, 43, runs out for the 300th time for Werrimull on Saturday against Bambill at Mildura Senior College, etching his name into the “300 Club” alongside his father Kieran and grandfather Frank.

On top of this, Matt’s great-grandfather Walter played in Werrimull’s maiden flag in the Millewa Football League’s inaugural 1926 season – meaning that between the four generations, a Kelly has been in the side for all of Werrimull’s 19 flags with all four captaining a premiership side.

“I’m not too fussed with playing 300 games for myself. How it fits in with the tradition of Dad, my grandfather and great-grandfather being involved in the club, that’s the important bit,” he said.
