Going to movies pays off

PATRICIA Edgar never imagined her weekly visits to the Mildura cinema with her father Reg Etherington would influence a career in children’s media.

The former Mildura resident has been at the forefront of the development of children’s media in Australia and internationally for more than three decades.

Last week, she was awarded the Doctor of Letters from La Trobe University in recognition of her significant achievements in media and lasting contributions to Australian culture and education.

“I never expected it, it was a total surprise,” Dr Edgar said.
