SUNRAYSIA fruit growers and industry representatives will meet next week to discuss how best to move forward in the wake of the fruit fly management turmoil.

The meeting follows the shock announcement the Greater Sunraysia Pest Free Area committee, founded in 2014, will be dismantled in December because of low voter turnout at a recent poll asking growers if they supported its continuation.

Table grape, citrus and stone fruit representatives will meet on Monday to discuss avenues to how best to manage the pest.

Australian Table Grape Association chief executive Jeff Scott said Minister for Agriculture Jaala Pulford was still “supportive of having some form of order for the Sunraysia Pest Free Area”.
