LETTER: New police powers are a danger to our freedom

So the Federal Government now wants to give federal police the right to stop and demand identification documents from anyone in an airport!

Not just anyone acting suspiciously or anyone whose behaviour causes concern, but you, me, my lippy, teenaged granddaughter or my politely considerate wife.

Apparently we’re all suspected terrorists.

Oh, I hope the Feds start habitually using these extended powers to stop and demand identification from the real dangers to our freedom – Malcolm, Peter et al. and their bulging-armpitted minders and noddies – every time they visit our airports.

Fair’s fair, isn’t it?
