Body scan for airport: High-tech devices add to Mildura terror screen

SECURITY at Mildura Airport is set to be enhanced as part of a Federal Government anti-terrorism package.

Mildura will be one of many airports in Australia to receive ­sophisticated new body scanners to detect potential threats.

Speaking yesterday from Canberra, where the new technology was discussed, Mildura Airport chief executive Bill Burke said the machine would be “very thorough”.

“The body scanner is something people will walk through and ­basically, it will detect anything metallic or concealed on the body,” Mr Burke said.
