Gems case to lower court

A WOMAN accused of stealing more than $50,000 in jewellery from Woodsies Gem Shop late last year will have her case heard in the magistrates' court.

Naomi Louise Bullock, 41, appeared in the Mildura Magistrates' Court briefly yesterday where an application for the case to be heard in the lower court was granted.

Bullock's lawyer Bert Hilton-Wood said police had downgraded the value of the property allegedly stolen from Woodsies to $53,393.

Tyren King, 18, was last month placed on an 18-month community corrections order after pleading guilty to his involvement in the heist on December 7.

The court previously heard King and a female co-accused gained entry to the shop through a window before smashing display cabinets and stealing multiple pieces of jewellery.

Some of the jewellery was found on King but much of what was stolen was not recovered.

Bullock is contesting the charges and will reappear in court next month.
