A THREE-year-old Irymple boy has been flown to a Melbourne hospital following an accident that has left him with third-degree burns to 5 per cent of his body.

Lachlan Loxton was playing outside with his five siblings Sunday evening, when he climbed a Colorbond fence to where the remains of a rubbish burn-off had been.

His mother Nicole was quick to chase him, but he ran away from her and through the hot coals, which resulted in burns to his legs.

The accident adds a burden on the family, with Lachlan terminally ill with West syndrome.
