AN extension of the Curlwaa Rural Fire Brigade (RFB) station is expected to have far-reaching benefits for the small community.
NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons joined Curlwaa brigade members at the official station opening on Thursday night.
The $100,000 revamp has provided a meeting room, office, kitchenette and bathroom at the station – a similar extension was also completed at Pooncarie RFB.
“Previously these stations were only able to accommodate vehicle storage, and brigade meetings were typically held outside or next to the truck,” Commissioner Fitzsimmons said.
“These extensions will allow the brigades to conduct business in furnished meeting rooms and offices, with the convenience of onsite cooking facilities and bathrooms.”
