MILDURA deputy mayor Ali Cupper says she does not believe she will need to step down from her leadership role on the council, despite having announced her intention to contest the seat of Mildura at November’s state election.
Cr Cupper’s decision has the support of Mayor Mark Eckel, who said she was capable of handling both positions. “As I do with all the candidates, I wish them the best,” Cr Eckel said.
“I would hope that Ali’s standing might generate additional interest – the more candidates we have, the more opportunities we have of people standing for important issues within our community, in particular, the social issues.”
