MILDURA Base Hospital (MBH)staff will receive special training to help them identify cases of family violence and enable them to provide patients with the right support.
It’s part of the Strengthening Hospital Responses to Family Violence Program, which will be rolled out over the next two years and was shaped by recommendations made by the Royal Commission into Family Violence.
Robinvale and District Health Service and Mallee Track Health and Community Service staff will also take part in the State Government-funded project.
Project manager Deidre Reid said the hospital had a deep reach into the community and a role to play in raising awareness about drivers of family violence, like gender inequality.
