Mum is no average woman

WHETHER you are a mother, step-mother or mother figure, tomorrow is the day for those around you to celebrate everything you do and all the support and guidance you provide.

While figures have changed over time and mother's situations and status greatly vary, the Australian Bureau of Statics (ABS) has revealed a snapshot of the typical mother.

Of the more than six million mums in Australia, the medium age for first timers in 2016 was 30.5, up from 27 years old in 2011, according to the latest ABS data.

In the same year an average of 1.79 babies were born per woman across the country, in comparison to 2.14 in Sunraysia.
