THE Mildura branch of Ratepayers Victoria has criticised details of Mildura Council's 2018-19 draft budget, adopted by councillors at a special council meeting on Thursday.
Mildura ratepayers will be slugged an extra $28 for waste management, a rate rise of 2.25 per cent and increased landfill costs for domestic and commercial waste, as outlined in the budget.
Ratepayers Victoria Mildura branch secretary James Gunaratnam described the council's proposed capital budget of $29.74 million for 2018-19 as "excessive", adding, "as in the past, it will not be achieved during the 2018-19 financial year".
Mr Gunaratnam also questioned the inclusion of the pensioner rebate in the "budget influences" section of the draft budget.
