THE current model of having under 18 football as the top Sunraysia under-age grouping should be kept, Wentworth president Andy Murdoch says.
Calls to move to an under 17 model – a reshuffling that would lead to one less junior grade overall – were reignited after many clubs started the season with low registration numbers in the under 18 age group.
Wentworth had 13 registered under 18 players earlier this week.
But Murdoch said the club had a surplus of under 16 players available to be selected, which would help boost the higher grade.
