DEPUTY Prime Minister and new Nationals leader Michael McCormack said he won’t sit quietly in his new position, vowing to be a vocal advocate for regions like Mildura.

Mr McCormack was in Mildura yesterday as part of a tour with his Nationals counterparts, and the day marked his first in the role of Acting Prime Minister, while Malcolm Turnbull is in Europe.

After the political storm that ended Barnaby Joyce’s reign as Nationals leader, Mr McCormack has so far kept a low profile without grabbing headlines.
