Sticky wicket: Predicament ‘unforgivable’, says club

Nichols Point president Jamie Milton says the pitch at Aero Oval No.2 was a “quagmire” on Sunday.

Nichols Point president Jamie Milton says the pitch at Aero Oval No.2 was a “quagmire” on Sunday.

SUNRAYSIA Cricket Association will review a formal complaint lodged by Nichols Point following the club’s Under 14 Division 1 semi-final against Irymple.

Players turned up for the second day of play at Aero Oval No.2 – a neutral ground – on Sunday to find the pitch was waterlogged after erroneously being watered overnight.

Nichols Point asked to move the second day’s play to Monday due to the condition of the pitch before agreeing to play to avoid abandonment, which would have resulted in Irymple progressing to the grand final as the higher-ranked side.
