IRYMPLE is “ready to make an impact” in its first finals appearance since the 2009-10 season, First Division captain Jordan Payne says.

The Swallows entered Saturday’s final round in fourth position and, with no bonus points available in one-day games, simply needed to win against then-top side Mildura East.

It was in no way comfortable, but Irymple did enough as East fell six runs short with 10 balls left, with Matt Button’s fourth wicket in his fifth over of an eventful spell closing out the match.

Irymple’s victory meant they finished above Mildura West, who won by four wickets against Coomealla Wentworth, by a slender 1.08 point margin – which, under the First Division bonus points system, amounts to mere 54 runs over the season.
