Mildura Settlers power to quick victory

TRIPLE reigning premiers Mildura Settlers made light work of the run chase against Nichols Point to secure another home semi-final.

Settlers entered the round in third spot so had to win as well as needing either Mildura East or Workers Gol Gol to lose in order to secure a top-two spot.

Handy knocks from Dale Chappell and Glen Bridson (45 each) and captain Jason Shields (28 not out) helped the Pointers to a competitive 6/170 from their 40 overs, despite the work of Jason Morrison (2/27) and Mark Kerr (2/30).

However, opener Morrison diminished that total with an early display of power hitting in which he smashed 77 from 42 balls, including seven fours and six sixes.
