MERC Force took the Murray River by storm yesterday, breaking the Robinvale Euston 80 Ski Race record to claim their fourth major river event of the season.
Queensland driver-owner Don Gulley and his NSW crew of observer Kevin Boylan and skiers Jake Tegart and Kris Knights claimed the penultimate river classic of the Australian ski racing season in 26 minutes and 21 seconds.
That time eclipsed the former record by Sapphire by just under 12 seconds.
Merc Force came in 19 seconds faster than last year’s winner Superman, who finished ahead of overall third-placed Sunraysia team Pigs Arsenal (27:22), comprising driver Chris Stevens, observer Mark Boyer and skier brothers Sean and Jack Stevens.
