FORMER world No. 4 tennis star Jelena Dokic has called on the community to encourage victims of domestic violence and abuse to speak up, and hopes to return to Mildura to work with family violence groups.
Ms Dokic was in Mildura this week for the Grand Tennis International, where she was the special guest speaker at the ladies lunch.
It follows the release of her book Unbreakable late last year in which she outlined the horrific physical and emotional abuse she suffered by her father Damir Dokic.
She has been candid about her depression and attempt to take her own life and is currently setting up her own family violence and abuse foundation.
