Almond growers confident

THE almond harvest, which started in early February, is looking good despite a growing season impacted by poor pollination conditions and winter frost.

Minter Magic owner and almond grower Darren Minter said the consequences of the extremely low temperatures that hit Sunraysia crops last August will remain unknown until almonds are harvested.

“This year, we had a very hot winter which brought on flowering early and then we had a massive frost of about -5C to -7C,” Mr Minter said.
