Technology upgrade could save lives

Week after week, we hear of vehicles running into/backing over human beings, children in particular.

A nightmare for parents.

All the well-placed mirrors in the world on a car or truck will not eliminate this risk.

A simple thermal/infrared imaging (heat detection) system, built into cars, might be the solution.

An alarm would sound if cameras picked up body heat in close proximity to a (stationary) vehicle.

Be it in front of, behind or under a car.

Such a system has long been used by the military to detect enemy forces and presumably could be easily modified for civilian application.

The end result would be the loss of far fewer human lives and a reduction in injuries. Our pets might also breath a sigh of relief, too.
