Whiting stocks are on the rise

WHITING are a favourite fish among anglers for many good reasons, not least of all their fantastic eating qualities.

A popular target during the warmer months, they fight very well on rod and reel and can be caught on land from a jetty or pier and offshore from a boat. 

While whiting numbers have had ups and downs, careful monitoring has shown their numbers are improving. 

Very high numbers of baby King George whiting have been recorded in fisheries’ surveys of Port Phillip Bay for the second consecutive year.
