LOCALS gathered at Nowingi Place yesterday to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Kevin Rudd’s apology to the Stolen Generations and celebrate our local indigenous culture.

Hosted by Mildura District Aboriginal Services’ (MDAS) Bringing Them Home program, the event was one of many held across the country in a bid to raise awareness of the effects of inter-generational trauma on Aboriginal people.

After a Welcome to Country by Andrew Arden and smoking ceremony performed by Willy Hannah, there was a performance by cultural dancers and a community barbecue.
