Mallee MP Andrew Broad has dodged questions about whether Barnaby Joyce is fit to continue as Nationals Leader and Deputy Prime Minister.

However, he yesterday retweeted a Tweet from Riverina man Peter Oataway which said if the Nationals were to survive, they needed to put Mr Broad in the party’s top job.

Mr Joyce publicly apologised yesterday to his wife Natalie, their daughters, and pregnant partner Vikki Campion after his extra-marital affair with former staffer Ms Campion was publicly exposed.

He has denied that he broke a ministerial code of conduct which states frontbenchers cannot help close relatives and partners get jobs in ministerial offices.
