War hero turns 100: A life full of action, distinction and service

AN act of mercy to save a crew of Germans during World War II remains a defining chapter in the storied life of Sunraysia war hero Dudley Marrows.

Mr Marrows, who grew up in the Depression and went on to become an accountant, a Wentworth councillor, a citrus grower and proud family man, turns 100 today.

But it was a moment on July 30, 1943, which forever etched his name into Australian military history.
