We would like to acknowledge the very serious problem of domestic violence in Mildura.
One in three women have experienced physical and/or other forms of abuse by someone known to them. One in four children are exposed to domestic violence and over 12 months, on average, one woman is killed every week by a current or former partner.
We don’t want Mildura to be part of these numbers, do we?
We should encourage high school students to take part in projects to help raise awareness and help young adults understand the problem so they can help other people who might have been a victim. Don’t be afraid to tell someone, just remember you’re not the only one.
If you have been a victim of domestic violence you can get help at www.whiteribbon.org.au
